BoloTerms of Use

The short version.
Bolo gives you estimates, not medical advice. Your food log is yours. Use Bolo for yourself and don’t abuse it. We’ll keep improving it, and you can leave, and delete everything, whenever you like.
Agreeing to these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Bolo (“Bolo”, “we”, “us”) covering the Bolo app and textbolo.com. By creating an account or using Bolo you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Bolo.
Who can use Bolo
You must be at least 13. If you’re under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you. You’re responsible for keeping access to your email or phone number secure, since that’s how you sign in.
Estimates, not medical advice
Bolo estimates calories and nutrients from photos, descriptions and product labels. Estimates can be wrong, sometimes by a lot, and suggested goals are general calculations, not a plan made for you. Bolo is not a medical device and doesn’t provide medical, dietary or nutritional advice. Talk to a doctor or registered dietitian before changing how you eat, especially if you are pregnant, have a medical condition, or have a history of disordered eating. If tracking food starts to feel stressful, it’s okay to stop.
Your content
You own the photos, messages and data you put into Bolo. You give us a limited permission to store, process and display that content only to run Bolo for you (including sending it to our service providers as described in the Privacy Policy). This permission ends when you delete the content or your account. Only send photos you have the right to share.
Using Bolo fairly
Please don’t: use Bolo for anyone but yourself without their permission; try to access other people’s accounts or data; interfere with, overload, scrape or reverse engineer the service; send unlawful, harmful or abusive content; or use Bolo to build a competing product. We may limit or suspend accounts that do.
Free plan and Bolo Plus
Bolo is free to use with a daily limit on new logs. We may offer a paid subscription (“Bolo Plus”). If we do, it’s bought through Apple’s App Store, renews automatically until you cancel it in your Apple ID settings, and is billed and refunded under Apple’s terms. We’ll show the price and terms before you buy. We may change what the free plan and Bolo Plus include; we’ll tell you in advance about changes that take something away from a subscription you’ve paid for.
Changes and availability
Bolo is new and we’ll keep changing it: adding, changing and sometimes removing features. We try to keep it running smoothly but can’t promise it will always be available or error-free.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account, which permanently deletes your data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk, and we’ll tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it.
Disclaimers
To the extent the law allows, Bolo is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including accuracy of estimates, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Bolo won’t be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of Bolo. Our total liability for any claim relating to Bolo is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $50. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you; nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can’t be waived.
Apple
If you got Bolo from the App Store: these terms are between you and Bolo, not Apple. Apple isn’t responsible for Bolo or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and isn’t responsible for any claims relating to it (including product liability, legal compliance, or intellectual property claims). If Bolo fails to meet an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of any purchase price; otherwise Apple has no warranty obligation. You confirm you’re not in a country subject to a U.S. embargo and aren’t on a U.S. prohibited-party list. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of the country you live in requires otherwise.
Changes to these terms
If we make material changes, we’ll tell you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Bolo after that means you accept the new terms.
